And I managed to get myself stuck on another shoujo anime... Why must shoujo animes hoard all the good plots... ;_;
Aside from the fact that Yuzuyu's just too damn cute for the screen, this could be considered one of the classics when it's all over. It's not the first shoujo anime to portray a kid being taken care of by a teenager ("Daa! Daa! Daa!" comes to mind), but the bittersweet plot is presented so well that it's hard not to watch it over and over again. Anyway, here's what I think about the first sixteen episodes so far... <SPOILERS> Unlike Daa! Daa! Daa!, this show doesn't cater to little kids. There are moments of sexual tension (and more than a few gropings of the opposite gender by our "protagonist" but thankfully NOT of Yuzuyu), and certain subjects that the series tackles (like child abuse and abandonment) can evoke some deep emotions from the viewers. The title and the perception of the series is certainly deceiving, and this is why it's attractive to a more mature audience. I get a hunch that, in the end, Kippei will have to choose Yuzuyu or Kokoro when it's all said and done. I know that he already made that choice (sort of) in Episode 11, but it seems that Kokoro will once again find her way back into Kippei's and Yuzuyu's life. I would think that Kokoro and Yuzuyu will eventually get used to each other and at least co-exist for a time being, but in the end Kippei may be forced to make a heart-wrenching decision. I haven't read the manga yet, so I have no way of knowing for sure, but that's the feeling that I have. Given that the manga is still on-going, there's a chance that we may not see a "conclusive" ending for the anime series. But then again, FMWS' manga was still going at the end of the anime, and the ending was fantastic, so there's hope... |

*sigh*
The only anime I watch that I have to wait for everyone to leave the room before I play it. Its hard enough explaining how im watching a "cartoon" at age 17, but with a cute little girl, and a ton of crying.... Its hard to explain. Like apple-jacks... "We Just Do." In any event... The show so far has been addictive at best. Yuzuyu's v/o is amazing, and the rest of the characters are great too. Development - A, Music - A, Visual - A, Story - A+. Its a great story, cryable at times... From watching the opening sequence 16 times, I cant help but think that maybe Kippei, Yuzuyu, and Kokoro will eventually work somthing out, but like you said WJ, this series seems to have a "Kippei is gonna get screwed" feeling to it. I sit on the edge of me seat waiting for Episode 17. Expect a AiBaby sig/avatar in the near future from me ![]() |
