Well, after being frightenly absent from E3 '06 DMC 4 finally revealed itself at the TGS '06.
And it's no wonder it went missing for a bit. The team had to do quite a bit of redesigning. New look, new style (focusing more on air and more fluid combos during combat) and most importantly.... a new lead character. That's right friends, our beloved demon slayer Dante will not be headlining DMC 4. In his stead a young demon hunter named Nero (who looks suspiciously like Dante) will be put into our itching hands, ready to dish out massive amounts of pain to demons and undead alike. A new main character doesn't mean that Dante won't make an appearance however. In fact, Dante will play a big part in the storyline of DMC 4. Kobayashi (the producer of DMC 4, RE 4 and the original DMC) stated in an article found in the latest GameInformer, that the decision to have a different lead character came from a few things. 1. They wanted to re-introduce the series to the next gen consoles. Sort of welcome newcomers as it were. 2. Fighting styles. The DMC 4 team wants to focus on a different style of fighting then Dante uses. They want Dante to still have his trademark style though, which is why they needed a new character to experiment with the combat system.
My thoughts. I can't wait. Yes, the fact that Dante isn't the lead bugs me a bit, but knowing that him (and possibly Vergil) will still play a huge role in the story makes up for it. I'm sure the DMC 4 team will provide us with some moments where we control Dante. And I bet they will be absolutely mind-blowing. It's DMC for the next gen... we get more demon slayers and combat styles to try out... and DMC 4 is being produced by the team that brought us RE 4 and the original DMC. I'd say that's a pretty damn good track record. If they want to try something new with DMC 4 I say go for it. That team hasn't let me down yet. Another interesting note is where this takes place in the time-line of the DMC story. DMC 3 is the beginning, and then DMC 1. DMC 4 actually takes place AFTER DMC 1, and DMC 2 is the last in the storyline. Maybe DMC 4 will finally shed some light on the seemingly unrelated plotline that DMC 2 took. It could definately shine some light on rumors regarding DMC 2.

i really liked the first 2 dmc games but found that the third annoyed me alot, the fighting did my head it being split up, but still like the series and will probably get the forth. As with the changin dante from being the lead, that dont bother me too much as long as they do it better then metal gear solid did...

Dunno why, but I'm getting the feeling he is Dante's and Mary's son.
And isn't virgil stuck in the demon world?
Oh wait, I forgot that the 3rd one is actually first one story wise, can someone feel
me in on the story on 1st and 2nd?

Sorry, I can't do anything. I'm here to check out what this game is about. I'd heard rumors that this one is really good, but I don't have any leads to whether or not it is true.
